The Tennessee Disability MegaConference is Tennessee’s largest disability-specific conference for individuals with disabilities, families, and professionals.  At the conference, people share the latest information and innovations on many topics including housing, employment, education, health care, recreation and leisure, mental health, and others.  Continuing education credits are offered in many categories.  People attending make new friends and important connections as everyone works together to encourage the full participation of all people with disabilities in their own lives!

Our 2013 theme is "Deep Roots, Broad Branches and Strong Wings."

Deep Roots include the values we share and try to instill in others. Deep Roots are the foundational skills and experiences that prepare us for life. Deep Roots ground us in a positive concept of who we are.

Broad Branches are the connections we make with the community. What could we access? What is available through innovation or advocacy?

Strong Wings include success stories and the ideas and experiences that allow people to SOAR! What opportunities or choices have been life-changing? How can we improve our quality of life?

On Thursday afternoon, May 30, there will be two public hearings. The first one will be at 4:00 pm on the State Plan for Independent Living. The second hearing will be at 5:30 pm on the Vocational Rehabilitation State Plan.

Art Contest Winner - Laura Moore! This picture that depicts this year's theme will be featured on program booklets and T-shirts.

Thirty eight year old, Laura Moore is a young lady of substance and character. She attended Madonna Learning Center and Bishop Byrne High School. She lives in Memphis with her mother, Dottie Moore and attends Martha’s Manor Day Activity Center where she passionately enjoys varied activities such as going on field trips to Dixon Art Gallery, Orpheum Theater, and the Botanical Gardens; working out at Curves; bowling; as well as eating out. Attending Martha’s Manor daily helps her to continue her education by improving her skills in academics, independent living, music, visual arts and physical fitness. Laura is an active athlete in Special Olympics. She participates and has received ribbons in the sports of basketball, bocce, volleyball, tennis, golf and swimming. Swimming perhaps being her best, she represented Memphis at the State level in Special Olympics in Nashville in 2013. Recently Laura was recognized as a Memphis Maker, where she was interviewed on TV which aired on Channel 10, WPYL throughout the month of March. Her hobbies include latch hooking, sewing and art.

Ben Liske will be performing at the Exhibitor Reception Thursday afternoon. Passionate about music, art, advanced mathematics and general academics, golf, architectural design, and weather—13 year-old Ben Liske is a well-rounded kind of guy. He was diagnosed with autism and probable cognitive deficits at the age of 23 months. Today, thanks to intensive early intervention and an intrinsic drive to overcome obstacles, Ben is accelerated two full general academic grade levels, with a focus upon mathematics, a lifelong Mensa member, and will be a sophomore at University School of Nashville this fall. Ben hopes to become an architect one day, and views himself as a “twice-exceptional, neuro-diverse” individual and is thankful for the ongoing love and support of the Nashville Community.

The temperature of meeting rooms throughout the conference center will be set at 72 degrees. Please dress accordingly and if you are cold-natured, dress in layers and bring a sweater or jacket.

Photographs and videos will be taken throughout the conference. Attendance constitutes permission to use images and videos of those at the event on this website, by sponsoring disability agencies and in other promotional materials.
